Sango Sands, Durness, Sutherland

Situated north, this camping spot looks out onto infinity over the vast North Sea and the Atlantic Ocean. Although it’s remote, there’s a lot to do. Visit Cape Wrath to view the highest cliffs in Britain, there’s a lighthouse and because of its unique north-facing location at the top of Scotland, you can see both the sunrise and sunset. You can also expect to see whales, seals and even Bottlenose Dolphins. The campsite allows tents, caravans and campervans and pets are welcome. There are 120 pitches available and you’ll have access to showers, laundry and a kitchen. Next to the campsite is a restaurant and bar offering food and drink including a fantastic selection of Scottish Whisky.

Borve, Isle of Barra

The Isle of Barra in the Outer Hebrides is just two and a half miles from Castlebay and has some of the world’s most beautiful tranquil beaches. Castlebay it the port for the Oban ferry and provides facilities including shops, library, sports centre, hotels, cafes, bank and post office. Although it is possible to wild camp on the beach, it can be much more convenient to camp somewhere with amenities – and you’ll still be within easy access to spectacular white sandy beaches. Borve allows tents, caravans and campervans, and pets are welcome. It provides showers, a kitchen area with fridge/freezer, laundry facilities and toilets.

Cashel Camping, Loch Lomond, Rowardennan

Located on the shore of Loch Lomond, this offers beautiful views across the loch over to the dramatic hills. Given how close it is to Glasgow, it’s the ideal weekend destination for those wanting to relax with great eateries nearby whilst enjoying some peace and quiet. If you’re feeling adventurous, there are many activities on the loch itself including boat trips and watersports, and you can enjoy some spectacular hill walking along the West Highland Way. Although there are over 160 pitches available, you’ll struggle to find one without an unobstructed loch view. It has a kitchen area, laundry facilities, toilets and a children’s play area.

Applecross Campsite, Applecross, Ross-Shire

If you’re looking for a complete getaway, you can’t get better than somewhere with no phone reception! Located near the rural village of Applecross in the Highlands, this is the perfect spot to unwind. The campsite is spread over six acres of open land and has views out towards the islands of Rassay, Rhona and the Black Cuillins of Skye. The campsite allows tents, caravans, campervans, motorhomes and pets are welcome.
